"Let's Explore!"

On Tuesdays, my mom and dad watch Liam so that Will and I can go to a Parent & Me class called, "Let's Explore!".  The class is run by the Monmouth County Park System which offers some pretty good classes at reasonable prices.  Today's class involved "circle-time", a story, a craft and then some stations where the kids could "explore".  We made a pine cone owl, played at a rice/pasta table, then a sand table, and then made a painting.  (Most of the activities are the messy kinds of things that you wouldn't want to do at home because of the clean-up factor.)  Above, I took a picture of two of the owl crafts-- one is the model (made by the teacher) and the other is the one made by Will.  Can you guess which is which?  He always insists on doing his own thing... and never wants his finished product to look like the model.  Two weeks ago, we did a craft that involved making a face and he insisted on creating a face with three eyes.  As all of the parents lined up the projects on a table to dry, I had to laugh at how "unique" ours was.  Will was telling everyone he made a "monster face" because "I can't like happy faces". After today's class, we went to the mall to get lunch and buy some clothes for the Fall/Winter.  Since the age of 1 and with nearly every trip to the mall, he still insists on the same coin operated ride.  No, not the "car" or the "spaceship" or the "train".... but the "ice cream truck".
